This 10th Social Sciences Institute will help your school develop transformative opportunities for UR in the social sciences. As in years past, we stand prepared to facilitate teams’ work with a broad range of institution-specific challenges and opportunities; however, this year’s wkshps and plenaries will have a special focus on research and scholarly activities w/in the early college curriculum to help you bring students in gen educ and intro courses into practices of inquiry & investigation.

Building on the information shared at the institute and working in close collaboration with a team facilitator, institute teams will leave with an action plan to bring back to their campus to strengthen and grow undergraduate research in the social sciences on their respective campuses. Although not required, teams will be encouraged to establish interdisciplinary action plans both within and beyond the social sciences to best leverage resources on their campus.

Undergraduate research has been recognized as an effective high impact practice and one that benefits students, faculty and entire institutions. This workshop will bring together teams of three to five faculty members and administrators from institutions that are interested in institutionalizing existing research activities and who are interested in developing research rich curricula to support those goals.
