Proposal Writing Institute 2024

University of Wisconsin-River Falls 

Organized by: Paula Dehn, PhD, Professor Emeritus Biology and Former Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of the College, Kentucky Wesleyan College

This institute will bring together faculty and administrators interested in preparing proposals for submission to external funding agencies. The multi-day institute will consist of one-on-one work with a mentor, writing, small-group discussions, and critiquing of proposals. The institute has been developed to assist novice to experienced proposal writers in drafting complete proposals for submission.

Institute’s Aim and Requirements for Participants: Participants will leave with a complete, competitive draft. They must commit to attending the plenaries and communicating with their facilitators at least once per day, and to spending most of their institute time during the week writing.

Please Note: During registration, you will be asked to identify your division or area of focus, the targeted agency and program (e.g. NIH-AREA, NSF-CAREER, etc.) for your proposal, and information on your proposal idea. Please have this information available when completing the registration form.

  • Credit cards (VISA, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover are all accepted.)
  • Check payment must be received by June 27, 2024.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When is the deadline to register?

  • Registration will close on May 22, 2024, because we have to identify specific facilitators based on each participant’s identified grant project.

What is included in the registration fee?

  • The registration fee includes meals indicated on the agenda during the event.

What is not included in the registration fee?

  • Lodging and travel to the event location are not included in the registration fee and will be the responsibility of the participant.

What is the registration cancellation and substitution policy?

  • CUR will honor cancellation requests and provide a refund, less a $50 processing fee, for all requests submitted in writing no later than June 11, 2024. No refunds will be permitted after June 11, 2024. Please submit cancellation requests in writing to CUR@CUR.org.
  • Transfer of registration to another individual before the cancellation deadline is free of charge but subject to member classification charges due to differences in conference rates. Transfer of registration after the cancellation deadline will be charged a $50.00 transfer fee. Institutions may not substitute one participant for another without prior approval of the CUR National Office.
  • In the event of a medical emergency after the cancellation deadline, please contact CUR@cur.org to provide documentation so an extension of the refund policy can be considered.

When will the agenda be released?

  • A draft agenda is available, but the final agenda will be released and shared several weeks before the event.

What are some reasons to participate?

  • Participants will leave with a complete, competitive draft. They will have access to grant writing experts to support them through the grant writing process during and after the institute.
