Posters on the Hill 2017

Capitol2017 Posters on the Hill

Washington, DC - April 25-26, 2017

The Council on Undergraduate Research is pleased to announce this year's 21st annual Poster on the Hill event in Washington, DC, will be held on April 25-26. This competitive event gives students the opportunity to showcase their research to congressional members, meet with their representatives, and learn about advocacy for undergraduate research.

Sixty top student research projects have been selected out of hundreds of applications. Accompanied by their faculty mentors, students will have the opportunity to present their research on April 26 from 5:30 pm-7:30 pm in the Rayburn Cafeteria (B-357). Optional field trips and orientation will begin on April 25 with congressional meetings occurring on April 26. We look forward to hosting this year's exceptional undergraduate researchers.

SCaudillSarah Caudill, a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Physics at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, will receive the Honorary CUR Fellows Award at an April 26 reception during Posters on the Hill. Caudill, a 2006 Posters on the Hill participant, contributed to the discovery of gravitational waves through the Caltech-MIT Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory (LIGO).

Said Caudill, "Looking back now, having the ability to participate in undergraduate research at Stetson University and Caltech was the most important factor in determining my future career. It opened up a world of experiences and connections that made the transition into a full-time scientist possible for a small-town girl."
