NCUR 2021 @Home Presenter Resources

The following information outlines a timeline and provides resources for those accepted oral, poster, performing arts, and gallery art presenters. If you have any questions pertaining to the information below, please email NCUR@CUR.org.

*Testing site will be open from March 15 - 19, 2021. All items uploaded or information imported will be erased from the testing site on March 19, 2021.
**Oral and Performing Arts presenters are able to upload their presentation information in their presenter room five days before their presentation.
This window begins on April 7, 2021. Please note that it is five days prior based on the date on which you will be presenting.


Oral and Performing Arts presentations:

  • Each student will be placed in a group with 1-2 other presenters during a 60-minute time slot. Each presenter will be given 15 minutes for presenting and 5 minutes for question and answer, for a total of 20 minutes. Your order of presenting is depicted by the order of your names show in the agenda under the session detail. View here. 
  • Your presentation will be given a number ranging from 100-1144. This number will have been given to you in an email on February 23, 2021. Please use this number when choosing which training to attend. 
  • Dates and Deadlines to note:
    • Please plan to attend the live Oral Presenter Training listed below that correlates to your session number. Recordings of the training will be made available should you not be able to attend. 
      • Training I: Oral Sessions 100-621, Tuesday, March 9, 2021 | 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM ET
      • Training II: Oral Sessions 622-1144, Tuesday, March 9, 2021 | 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM ET
      • For training links, please refer to your February 23, 2021 email or email us at NCUR@CUR.org. 
    • On March 15, 2021, you will receive an access email to the NCUR 2021 @Home testing site. This will be your continued access point before, during, and after the conference. It will be open for you to experience what the site will look like, how it will be set up, and practice the training you received the week prior. This testing site will be open March 15 - 19, 2021. We strongly encourage you to utilize this time to become familiar with your surroundings. Anything that you do during this time will be wiped clean on March 19, 2021. 
    • Five days before your scheduled session's start, you will be instructed to pre-load your materials outlined below. 
  • Materials Needed to Pre-load:
    • NCUR 2021 @Home PowerPoint template
    • [Performing Arts Presenters] You have the option to pre-record your performing arts piece as part of your presentation. Here are instructions on how to pre-record using PPT or Zoom. Your pre-recorded presentation should be five minutes or less. You will be prompted to load this video in the system five days prior to your presentation. Use the above PPT to finish preparing the oral part of your presentation. 
    • Profile Needs: 
      • Once logged into the site, add your profile picture and make sure your profile information is correct. Please complete any missing information. Please note that your abstract will be found within your bio. 

 

Posters and Gallery Art presentations:

  • If you are scheduled in the same time slot for more than one poster, you need to choose one of the following:
    • Identify a co-presenter to lead the room for you.
    • Post office hours within your booth by splitting times between your two posters. Instructions for doing so will be provided in the Poster and Gallery Art Training. 
  • Each live poster meeting room is limited to four participants maximum at any given time. Each on-demand poster viewing room and chat is available continuously for an unlimited number of participants. 
  • Your poster or gallery art presentation will be given a number ranging from 2000-7170. This number will have been given to you in an email on February 23, 2021. Please use this number when choosing which training to attend. 
  • Dates and Deadlines to note:
    • Please plan to attend the live Poster and Gallery Art Training listed below that correlates to your session number. Recordings of the training will be made available should you not be able to attend. 
      • Training I: P/GA Sessions 2000-4635, Wednesday, March 17, 2021 | 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM ET
      • Training II: P/GA Sessions 4636-7170 Wednesday, March 17, 2021 | 3:00 PM - 4:30 PM ET
      • For training links, please refer to your February 2021 email or email us at NCUR@CUR.org. 
    • On March 22, 2021, you will receive an access email to the NCUR 2021 @Home site. You will be prompted to start uploading your materials and updating your profile. Please make sure to look around the site and become familiar with your surroundings. 
      • Please note that only the lead presenter will be able to upload materials. Any co-presenters will be automatically assigned to your poster or gallery art viewing room. These co-presenters will still need to set up a personal profile and will be able to see the dashboard and your posters, but will not be able to edit the creative aspects of your room designs. 
    • March 31, 2021 at 11:59 PM ET will be the last day to upload all of your materials to the NCUR 2021 @Home site.  
  • Materials Needed to Pre-load:
    • The following will appear as a checklist within your room's dashboard. Once something is uploaded, it will display as completed. 
      • Gallery Art Presenters Only: Thumbnail Photo (311 x 305 px) This will be the background tile that is shown in conjunction with your gallery art title, name, and category on the poster directory page. 
      • Main video (MP4 1080p) You need to pre-record a presentation starting with a picture of your full poster or gallery art image, followed by a five minute or less discussion of your research. This will be used as the teaser for those viewing your on-demand viewing room. You will then need to post your video as unlisted on your YouTube, Wistia, or Vimeo account and include it as an embed link in the platform. Please use the NCUR 2021 @Home PowerPoint template for your presentation. View instructions on how to pre-record using PPT or Zoom.
      • Media: Showcase up to five media types, including images or additional videos from YouTube, Wistia, or Vimeo. If uploading images, the recommended size is 1130 x 636 px.  
      • Downloadable Resources: Include up to five pieces of downloadable content such as a larger version of your poster, etc. These links need to be PDF or JPEG/PNG.
      • Custom Text (Word limit = 1200 words): This will be where you upload your abstract.
    • Profile Needs: 
      • Once logged into the site, add your profile picture and make sure your profile information is correct. Please complete any missing information. 

 

Frequently Asked Questions
