Tuesdays in July: A Summer Series for Grad Students and Postdocs on Planning and Developing a Successful Research Program at a Primarily Undergraduate Institution [PUI]
Dates: July 6, 2021 | July 13, 2021 | July 20, 2021 | July 27, 2021
Time: 2:00-3:00 PM ET
This summer series will include presentations and discussions about how to plan and develop a successful research program primarily with undergraduates. Some questions that we hope to answer are as follows. What are the job expectations at different types of undergraduate institutions? What are the benefits and challenges of working with undergraduate researchers? How can you be strategic about selecting students, identifying appropriate projects, and providing effective mentoring? How can you leverage the involvement of undergraduates for targeted external funding? How would you structure a course to optimize the research experience for undergraduates and satisfy your goals as a researcher? Although this series is relevant for STEM disciplines, participants from other disciplines are welcome to attend.
