General Representative Nominations - Fall 2019

CUR Past President Susan Larson (Concordia College, far left) takes a break with CUR colleagues.

As established through our recent changes to the CUR Constitution and Bylaws, General Representatives will be elected by the Executive Board and will be voting members of the General Council. There will eventually be four General Representatives elected by this process, with one elected in the current cycle.  The following is the call for this cycle:

The Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) invites nominations for the position of General Representative to the Executive Board. The Board seeks individuals who will bring fresh perspectives on how to advance CUR’s mission through engagement with the public, peer organizations, and potential funding sources. Desired expertise includes networking and collaboration with relevant agencies, institutions, or foundations; cultivating relationships with donors and/or partner organizations; and/or procurement of external funding. The Executive Board continues to seek candidates from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Candidates need not be members of CUR at the time of nomination but must have experience in public or private entities with missions aligned with that of CUR and become members if elected.

Nominations should be addressed to the chair of the Nominations Vetting Committee (NVC), Linda Blockus (, and to Robin Howard ( by January 7, 2020. Please include the nominee’s name, contact information and a brief statement of the nominee’s qualifications for the CUR Executive Board. Please do not contact the nominee before NVC review. The NVC will review the nomination and facilitate contact with the nominee as appropriate. If you have any questions, please contact Linda Blockus.
