UCO NCUR 2018 Sustainability Efforts

Promoting environmentally friendly practices is paramount to UCO’s mission of helping students become productive, creative, ethical and engaged citizens and leaders serving our global community. With NCUR, UCO committed to these principles through its sustainability efforts.

UCO NCUR has partnered with Cupanion, a reusable coffee cup company, to reduce waste from single use plastic and paper products. Cupanion also helps us track our offsets from this conference through their app interface, which allows you to log each time you use the Cupanion coffee cup we have provided you. This way, we can really see the impact that NCUR 2018 conference attendees are making during our time together.

In an effort to further reduce waste from the meals provided throughout NCUR, UCO and Fertile Ground, a community composting company based in OKC, have partnered to handle all food waste and recycling waste used during conference meal times. During meals, look for the Fertile Ground bins located at the Wellness Center tent, in the Nigh Ballrooms, and at the water stations located throughout campus. With your help, we can make NCUR 2018 a low waste event and prevent hundreds of pounds of food waste from reaching a landfill, as well as create nutrient-rich soil for community gardens in OKC.

In addition, UCO is a proud supporter of wind energy. We are powered 100 percent through Edmond Electric’s Pure and Simple program. We have also partnered for more than a decade with Johnson Controls to improve energy efficiency campus-wide.

Thank you for participating in NCUR 2018 at UCO. We hope that you enjoy your time here, and that you will help us make NCUR a greener, environmentally ethical event.
