Oklahoma City offers all of the culture, cuisine, attractions and amenities you’d expect in a modern metropolis. And with its rugged Western past, working stockyards and title as “Horse Show Capital of the World,” it’s rich in cowboy culture as well. From family fun to romantic retreats to outdoor adventures you won’t find anywhere else, Oklahoma City has plenty of hustle without all the hassle.

A Walk on the Wild Side

Adventure is waiting for you in northeast Oklahoma City. The Adventure District is home to some of the most outstanding tourist attractions in the state. The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum and experience the internationally renowned collection of Western art and artifacts. The Museum is home to a permanent collection of over 2,000 paintings and sculptures that paint a picture of the West. Next, take a walk on the wild size in one of the nation’s top zoological parks with a diverse animal collection of 459 species and approximately 1,401 animals, as well as a new state-of-the-art animal hospital. over 2,200 animals, winding paths, and beautiful landscaping over 110 acres.

Head out to Sulphur, Oklahoma and immerse yourself in the Native American culture. The Chickasaw Cultural Center tells a story of the individuals and families who have struggled, fought and thrived across generations to make Chickasaws the united and unconquerable people they are today. The Chickasaw Cultural Center is a cultural home and embodiment of the Chickasaw Nation’s legacy. Take a stroll through the picturesque Chickasaw National Recreation Area and enjoy the invigorating scenery. Satisfy your sweet tooth with a tour of the Bedre Chocolate factory. The Chickasaw Nation is the only tribe to create its own brand of fine chocolates. Their recipes are tried and true and reflect the time-honored tradition of the Native American peoples who first cultivated this divine delicacy. 

 

Tour 3: Glass Masters

Indulge in local art with a tour of Blue Sage Studios, a full-service glass blowing studio specializing in the production of art glass, vases, bowls, and sculpture. Blue Sage Studios offers glassblowing lessons, demonstrations, lampworking (bead making), and art glass for sale. With a love of teaching and a love of glass, guests will witness glass blowing and learn the process. Then, head to the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, located in the heart of Downtown Oklahoma City's Arts District. The Museum is home to an extensive permanent collection of European and American art, including the most comprehensive collection of Dale Chihuly glass in the world.
 
Tour 4: Trail of Remembrance

Begin the tour by taking a step back in time to the Wild West. Visit the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum and experience the internationally renowned collection of Western art and artifacts. The Museum is home to a permanent collection of over 2,000 paintings and sculptures that paint a picture of the West. Next, experience the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum which was created to honor those who were killed, those who survived and those changed forever by the 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. The Memorial and Museum are dedicated to educating visitors about the impact of violence, informing about events surrounding the bombing, and inspiring hope and healing through lessons learned by those affected.

 
Tour 5: RIVERSPORT Adventures

The Boathouse District along the Oklahoma River offers beautiful views of the Oklahoma City skyline and a chance to get active! RIVERSPORT Adventures offer plenty of fun on and off the water. Thrill-seekers will be able climb the six-story SandRidge Sky Trail & Slide, an 80-foot adventure course to be climbed while safely fastened in with a harness. Getting down requires sliding down the Sky Slide or dropping via the Rumble Drop. RIVERSPORT Rapids is the 11-acre whitewater rafting and kayaking center. You can also test your strength on the rock walls, kayaks, stand up paddleboards and more! When you work up an appetite, refuel at the Big Water Grill and enjoy some local favorites!
