The Council on Undergraduate Research is excited to launch the annual Undergraduate Research Week by sending you this spotlight on our largest conference, the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR)!

ncurasheThe mission of NCUR is to promote undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative activity done in partnership with faculty or other mentors as a vital component of higher education.  This year, the 30th annual conference was held at the institution where it all began – University of North Carolina Asheville.  The event drew more than 4200 registrants. The conference program included students presenting their research in a multitude of formats including: oral, poster, creative arts exhibit and performance. In addition, there were Faculty Administrator Network (FAN) sessions; a Graduate and Professional School Fair representing programs from across the United States; three plenary/keynote speakers; and social events and excursions.

Even if you have never attended an NCUR event, the conference can be a wonderful resource to your undergraduate research program.  We often get requests for suggested research topics across a broad range of subjects.  NCUR offers two such repositories, both of which are available to search through the CUR website.

We will continue to keep you updated throughout the week with additional news surrounding Undergraduate Research Week.  Please forward our messages to your colleagues to spread the word, or direct them to our Undergraduate Research Week website at http://www.cur.org/conferences_and_events/special_offerings/urw/2016/, which lists information about our events, the publication sale, a recognition based #hashtag-a-thon, the efforts of our member campuses, and more.

We sincerely appreciate your membership and hope that you will join us in celebration of undergraduate research this April 11th through 15th.
