National Office History
|
The first National Office of the Council on Undergraduate Research was located on the campus of the University of North Carolina-Asheville.
John Stevens, Professor of Chemistry, University of North Carolina-Asheville, was hired by the Council and began his position of Executive Officer in May of 1991. By the fall of 1991 the office was fully staffed. John's term as Executive Officer continued until July of 1997.
From July 1997 through September 30, 1997 Charlotte Otto, then CUR President, became the Interim Executive Officer, while the Council sought a new Executive Director. On October 1, 1997
Dr. K. Elaine Hoagland became the National Executive Officer of the Council and moved the office to Washington, DC.
On July 1, 2004 Dr. Nancy
Hensel became the third Executive Officer of Council on
Undergraduate Research.
