INTERNATIONAL PERSPECTIVES ON UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH AND INQUIRY:
A SCHOLARLY DISCUSSION
Pre-ISSOTL Seminar, Liverpool, UK, 19 October 2010 0900-16:30
“Undergraduate research is now an international movement.” (Jenkins and Healey, 2010)
Those of you less familiar with travel to or within the UK may find this information useful. But take care it was written by two ex-geographers Alan Jenkins and Mick Healey – so also consult your travel agent!
http://www.visitliverpool.com/site/visitor-information is a useful tourist guide to Liverpool.
While Liverpool has an airport (Liverpool John Lennon http://www.liverpoolairport.com/), there are no direct flights to North America. However, through KLM's Amsterdam hub there are many connections to Liverpool.
Alternatively some 30 miles away is Manchester airport
http://www.manchesterairport.co.uk/manweb.nsf#142 with at least 13 direct flights per day to North America, and from the airport there are good rail and coach links to Liverpool.
If you want to link this trip to Liverpool to other UK and Ireland locations there are, of course, excellent links between North America and London Heathrow. Though some 180 plus miles to Liverpool there are good rail and coach links to Liverpool and air connections to Manchester http://www.londontoolkit.com/travel/heathrow_northernengland_transfer.htm as there are also with (London) Gatwick http://www.londontoolkit.com/travel/gatwick_northernengland_transfer.htm.
There are also good rail links from Birmingham, Glasgow and Edinburgh and ferry links from Dublin to Liverpool as well as air links from these places to Manchester.
See you in Liverpool!
