The Council of Undergraduate Research (CUR) honored the research achievements
of 75 undergraduate students from more than 50 colleges and universities nationwide at its annual Posters on
the Hill reception on Capitol Hill in the Rayburn House Office Building. Each
student presented his or her research, displayed on posters, to the members of Congress, congressional staff
members, federal government officials and others in attendance.
Rep. Vernon Ehlers (R-MI-3) and Dr. Arden Bement, Director of the National Science Foundation, have been
named by CUR to its inaugural class of Honorary CUR Fellows. Rep. Ehlers, who’s retiring at the end of his
term, and Dr. Bement, who is stepping down as NSF director, were cited for their staunch commitment to
undergraduate research and science, technology, engineering and math education.
