Call for Submissions for Summer 2009 issue, "Undergraduate Research That Informs Public Policy"

The theme of the Summer 2009 CUR Quarterly will focus on 'Undergraduate Research That Informs Public Policy.'  We seek 4 or 5 authors who can write articles that describe undergraduate research efforts or programs that have at their core the goal to explore or inform public policy.

We encourage articles that describe public policy-focused undergraduate research programs in a variety of academic settings and disciplinary perspectives. Of particular interest are articles that provide insights regarding

  • how undergraduate research projects influenced or informed public policy at the local, state, national or international levels;

  • student learning outcomes resulting from involvement in public policy-focused undergraduate research programs;

  • how collaborations were developed with community/governmental actors that resulted in undergraduate research influencing public policy;

  • examples of how to build and sustain public policy-focused undergraduate research programs, particularly through centers or institutes on campus.

If you are interested in submitting an article, please submit one or two paragraphs describing the focus of your proposed article by November 1, 2008. Decisions on invitations for full papers will be made by December 1, 2008.

Full papers will be about 2500 to 3000 words in length.  The deadline for receipt full papers is February 1, 2009. Full paper submissions will be subject to review.
