The
Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR) awards summer fellowships to the
students of faculty members interested in mentoring an undergraduate student at primarily
undergraduate institutions. CUR
fellowships provide a unique opportunity for undergraduate students and
their faculty mentors to engage in approximately ten weeks of full-time
research at their home institution. Award opportunities may be restricted to certain academic areas,
depending on available funding.
The Fellowships
The
Undergraduate Summer Research Fellowship Program provides opportunities
for faculty mentors to support promising undergraduates.
Established in the summer of 1990, the program facilitates a
diversity of research opportunities that allow students at primarily
undergraduate institutions to experience first-hand the excitement and
challenges of careers in natural and social science, mathematics, and engineering.
Each fellowship
provides funding for a student stipend and may provide additional
support for travel, faculty honorarium, and equipment expenses.
