Weber River Rafting Trip

The Weber River provides an exciting trip for anyone interested in a whitewater rafting experience. The mighty Weber starts high in the Uintah Mountains and courses over 125 miles before emptying into the Great Salt Lake. The rapids aren't big (class II and III), but there are lots of them! Some rapids are found nearly on top of each other, which makes for a thrilling ride. The spectacular scenery only adds to the experience! The Weber River is nestled in a red rock canyon filled with awesome rock formations and gorgeous vistas. No children under 10. $45/person.

Explore the Utah Mountains

Don’t miss the majestic mountain scenery available in Weber State University’s backyard. You’ll start the day with a beautiful drive up Ogden Canyon as you head to Snowbasin Resort, one of the oldest continuously operating ski areas in the nation, and host to the men's and women's downhill, super G and combined races in the 2002 Winter Olympics Games. Join one of our guides for a day hike, explore on your own, take pictures, ride the Gondola (price not included in trip), and maybe even see some wildlife. Lunch included. $25/person.

Park City and Utah Olympic Park

In February 2002, world-class athletes from many countries gathered in Salt Lake City for the 2002 Winter Olympics. Now is your chance to see what all the excitement was about. Tour the Utah Olympic Park, the venue that hosted the Bobsled, Ski Jumping, Luge, and Skeleton events. You’ll also tour Park City (home of the Sundance Film Festival and Robert Redford) and learn its fascinating history as a mining boomtown. Today Park City is a skiing mecca and getaway for the rich and famous, yet still remains the charming qualities of a quaint mountain town. Lunch on your own. $40/person.

Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge

The Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge lies in northern Utah, where the Bear River flows into the northeast arm of the Great Salt Lake. The Refuge protects the marshes found at the mouth of the Bear River; these marshes are the largest freshwater component of the Great Salt Lake ecosystem. Throughout the refuge's long, rich past, it has not only been an oasis for shorebirds and waterfowl but many people find solitude viewing the sun setting over the Promontory Mountains, or by watching a pair of American avocets dancing in spring. Lunch included. $20/person.

Crossroads of the West

This tour is a complete look at what makes Salt Lake City so unique. You will begin the tour in historic downtown at the iconic Salt Lake City Mormon Temple, a worldwide icon of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the heart of Temple Square. Then drive through the stately “Avenues”, visit the Utah State Capitol, tour the beautiful Cathedral of Madeline, Civil War-era Fort Douglas, and “This Is The Place State Park”. Lunch included. $40/person.

Park City - Shop 'Til you Drop

Tour Park City (home of the Sundance Film Festival), shop the boutiques and specialty shops along Main Street, take in the beautiful mountain scenery, eat lunch at one of many local restaurants, and learn about the city’s fascinating history as a mining boomtown. Then get ready to shop ‘til you drop at the Tanger Outlets featuring over 60 name brand outlet shops such as Gap, Banana Republic, Coach, Fossil, Nike, Guess, Ralph Lauren, Old Navy, Calvin Klein, Wilson Leather, and more. Lunch on your own. $40/person.

Sunday morning with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square

Visitors to the CUR 2010 Conference may attend a live broadcast of "Music & the Spoken Word," featuring the 360-member Mormon Tabernacle Choir. "Music and the Spoken Word" has become the world's longest-running continuous network broadcast. It was first broadcast on July 15, 1929 at the same location it is today, the Tabernacle on Temple Square in downtown Salt Lake City. The program is carried on more than 2,000 radio and television stations around the world.

The Choir has appeared at 13 of the world's fairs and expositions, performed at the inaugurations of five U.S. presidents, and sung for numerous worldwide telecasts and special events. Five of the Choir's recordings have achieved "gold record" and two have achieved "platinum record" status. The most popular was the Grammy-Award-winning 1959 release of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" with the Philadelphia Orchestra. After the beautiful performance, you can spend your Sunday morning walking the grounds of historic Temple Square. $15/person.

Antelope Island and the Great Salt Lake

First visited by John C. Fremont and Kit Carson in 1845, Antelope Island is the largest of the eight islands of the Great Salt Lake. Using the 7.2 mile causeway, you will visit the island to see oolitic sand, brine shrimp, Proterozoic rocks, a bison herd, a pioneer era settlement, and a 1000-year old Fremont Indian archaeological site. Along the way, you’ll learn about the historic settlement and current economic uses (herding, hunting, and recreating) of the island and some fact and fiction about America’s most famous saline lake. Bring your bathing suit to experience for yourself the buoyancy caused by such salty water. $20/person.

Golden Spike National Monument

The historic site of Golden Spike National Monument witnessed one of the most important accomplishments of the 19th century. On May 10, 1869, officials of the Central Pacific Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad met here to drive four symbolic spikes (two gold), celebrating the completion of the first transcontinental railroad. Take an easy, flat 1.5 mile walk, called the “Big Fill Walk”, explore the site, and see two working replicas of the 1860’s steam locomotive ‘Jupiter’ and ‘119’. A must see for children, adults, history buffs, and train enthusiasts--a must see for all! $20/person.
