CUR 2002 Workshop Report
Issues in Small Liberal Arts Colleges
By Naomi Amos, Randolph-Macon Woman's College
Twenty-one participants from small institutions discussed personal and professional issues for two hours. The conversations ranged from the isolation for a faculty member in terms of research interests, to complaints about unsupportive administrations. By the end of the session, the positive impact of teaching at a small institution was shared by virtually all. Senior faculty were instrumental in helping new faculty think about creative approaches to some of their concerns.
