The College
of Saint Benedict is a private, nationally recognized
liberal arts, Catholic, Benedictine college for women.
Founded by Benedictine Sisters in 1913, it was one of the
first undergraduate colleges for women established in the
upper Midwest and the 13th in the nation.
Saint
Benedict’s has a unique educational partnership with
nearby Saint John’s University for men.
The colleges have a common undergraduate curriculum,
identical degree requirements and a single academic
calendar, while maintaining separate campuses with their
own residence halls, athletic programs and traditions.
Together,
they offer students the educational choices of a large
university and the individual attention and community of a
premier small college. The learning experience is enhanced
by Catholic and Benedictine traditions of hospitality,
stewardship, service, and the lively engagement of faith
and reason.
Saint
Benedict excels in preparing women for leadership and
service, locally and globally. It is a national leader in
international education, with two thirds of its students
participating in faculty-led, semester-long study abroad
programs available on six continents.
An
extraordinary sense of community shapes the undergraduate
experience and creates a lifelong network of alumnae
connections.
The
College of Saint Benedict also has a long and distinguished
commitment to arts and culture.
Its nationally recognized Benedicta Arts Center has
attracted more than 1.5 million patrons to cultural events
since it opened in 1964. The center’s recent expansion
builds on that tradition and ensures for future students a
vibrant environment for the performing and visual arts that
contributes to culture, community and creativity.
