Student participants in 2001 USRP commented:

"I had a great experience this summer. I really enjoyed working on my project and learned a lot about photochemistry and polymers. I especially enjoyed the association with my mentor and the other full time employees at NASA."

"My mentor did a good job of letting me select an area that I wanted to work on, and then letting me run with it. She provided enough guidance that I wouldn't get stuck and yet gave me enough space and time to figure things out on my own and truly made the project my own."

"Lance did a fine job as mentor. He gave me instructions and suggestions as to what to do and how to do it, then left me to get things done. After I got some results, we would talk about them."

Mentors from the first USRP made these comments:

"Our group has been extremely pleased with the performance of our NASA-USRP interns this summer. I would highly recommend this program to my colleagues and look forward to participating again in the future."

"Daniel is a very bright young man and would be an asset to anyone. His work ethic and the effort he puts into his work is outstanding. He is very interested in research and already has the mindset that should propel him into excellence for the future."

"Rebekah provided an outstanding service to NASA during her brief tenure. She worked on our Xena Cluster project team. She's a very gifted, intelligent student with a great work ethic."
