Michael Castellani received a B.S. from Furman University in 1982, a Ph.D. from the University of California at San Diego in 1986 under the direction of William C. Trogler, and did post-doctoral work in the laboratory of David R. Tyler in 1987-88 at the University of Oregon.  His research involves paramagnetic transition metal organometallic chemistry.  This research has been funded by Research Corporation, PRF, NSF-RUI, and the Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation. Prof. Castellani has been designated a Camille and Henry Dreyfus Scholar for 2001-2003.  Approximately 30 undergraduates have worked in his laboratory, resulting in five full papers with undergraduate coauthors.  He served as CUR liaison to Marshall for 4 years and has an extensive background in library affairs.
