The Council on Undergraduate Research
celebrated its 20th anniversary with the announcement of an endowment for undergraduate
research named in honor of its founder, Brian Andreen. The announcement was made
at the conclusion of CUR’s Council dinner on Wednesday, June 24, 1998 at which Brian was
feted. Several past CUR presidents and friends of Brian were on hand to “roast”
Brian. Neal Abraham, CUR President, and Charlotte Otto, President Elect, presented him
with a scroll listing the initial group of donors, a bound copy of the first CUR Directory,
and a plaque. At the time of the presentation, CUR had raised over $75,000 from friends
and members of CUR, including a generous starter donation of $50,000 from the Murdock
Charitable Trust.
Donations to the fund can be made in the name of the donor or to honor
a mentor or colleague; all funds will also honor Brian Andreen.
