Special Events

The Following events require special registration:

Dialogues participants will have on opportunity to participate in selected sessions of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities Grants Resource Center (GRC) conference at no extra charge.   The GRC sessions are concurrent with the CUR sessions. You will need to sign up in advance due to limited space. These sessions will be held at the Sofitel Hotel which is a short walk from the Hamilton Hotel. Please see the list of sessions above, which all begin with "GRC".

On Friday, February 26, CUR and GRC are co-hosting a reception to provide an opportunity to talk in small groups or individually with national education policy makers and agency heads to discuss research priorities, innovation, discovery, and high quality undergraduate research. This event begins at 5:30pm.
Registration fee is $20

On Friday, February 26 and Saturday, February 27, Duncan McBride will be holding the Participatory Mock Panel Review of an NSF-CCLI Proposal, which is a two hour session. This session is included in the Dialogues registration, however, you will need to sign up in advance as space is limited.

Beginning on Saturday Afternoon, February 27, CUR will offer three concurrent post-conference workshops.

Ethical and Responsible Research Practices – What Are They and Why They Are They Important
This interactive workshop will explore responsible practices in scientific, qualitative, and humanistic research. Participants will review ethical issues in research – standards, judgments and consequences – and their importance for faculty, students, and institutions. Proposal Writing: Beyond the Basics 

Workshop 1:  Research Grants in the Sciences
This workshop will provide advice for writing more competitive research grant applications in the sciences. Particular emphasis will be devoted to research grants available throughout the National Sciences Foundation and National Institutes of Health. You will need to submit the following items by completing a survey online using the link below no later than Sunday, February 21st.

  1.  An abstract of your research project – 200 words or less.
  2. A bulleted list of the specific aims associated with your research project.

Workshop 2:  Project and Curricular Proposals in Social Sciences and Humanities

This interactive workshop that will introduce participants to the grant world (searching for funding, how proposals are read/scored) and the strategies practiced by grant winners.
